  • Green Wedding: Cater to Mother Earth With a Green Menu

Photography by Lou Manna - see more at www.loumanna.com

What should we eat? That is a popular question today. With the rise of heart disease, diabetes, and obesity, what foods to eat has become a controversial topic amongst nutritionists and medical practitioners alike. But food doesn’t just affect our health. Food and how it is produced affects the health of the planet as well. Much of today’s food is grown with pesticides and synthetic fertilizers that have an adverse affect on the humans who consume it and the soil in which it is grown. Even more, most of our food comes from very far away places. In fact, our food travels an average of 1500 miles to get to us. That’s a lot of fuel being used to transport food around the globe. So if you would like to make a positive eco-friendly impact at your wedding, choosing the right kind of food is key. Keep reading to learn how.

Some people are lucky enough to be able to speak candidly in front of a group, with grace and wit and impeccable timing. I hate them. I count myself in the miserable majority of reluctant public speakers, who freeze up and immediately lose 30 IQ points when faced with a microphone and a crowd that exceeds three people. If you’re with me, the greatest advice that I can offer you is this: Make sure to hit the bar before the stage. This is the intended order of things, and you should not try to interfere with nature’s course. With that being said, I have gathered up a few other hints for those of you who are dreading an impending toast that you must give, or planning for toasts at your own wedding. Here is a ‘Who, What, When and Where’ of Wedding Toasts, that I hope will be helpful.

  • Planning Tip of The Week: Real or Fake

Photography by Cameron Ingalls - see more at www.cameroningalls.com

The economic crunch has affected many brides and grooms planning their wedding, and cutting (out) the extravagant cake seems to be a popular way to keep a few bucks in the pocket. According to The Wedding Report, the average cost of a custom created cake in 2008 is nearly $550. And mind you, that is a basic buttercream frosted cake. No fillings, exotic flavors, artsy icing, none; just cake.
